The Eastern Conference might be as packed and ready to wreak havoc as they can ever be. Of course, they also have the current defending champions on their side as well but it seems like the East is determined to get back onto the NBA map once again. This division has much stronger contenders going into the playoffs that including the Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers. Both teams have been playing at the highest level and their ticket is rightfully earned.
The Philadelphia 76ers had an iffy start to the season after their point guard at the time had opted out of play and because of health-related issues which had 40% of their roster out for the first one and a half of the season. They are now 2nd in the East with a record of 39 wins and 24 losses going undefeated after James Harden’s debut. The Miami Heat lead the East with 43 wins and 22 losses captained by former 76er Jimmy Butler.
Joel Embiid and Jimmy Butler caught up at half court after an accidental slap to the face
In a low-scoring game, the 76ers were upset by the dominating Heat 99-82 during which Joel Embiid slapped the lights out of Jimmy Butler on a fast break. Yes, that’s exactly what he did. But all was well after it was only on accident since Embiid tripped on a foul by Bam Adebayo. The two had walked it out as Embiid made sure to check on his former teammate. Butler finished the game with 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists, Embiid put with 15 rebounds followed by 22 points.
Butler was traded in the summer of 2019 that involved four teams. He found his new home with the Miami Heat with whom he made his debut final appearance on his very first season with the franchise. The all-star allegedly had a bad relationship with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons which led to the trade. In response, he said, “I didn’t have a problem with either one of them. Still talk to those dudes. I wish them the absolute best. It just didn’t work the way that we wanted it to work. That’s life. Not everything pans out the way you want it to. But you learn and you move on from it.”
