The Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James fell out of playoffs contention in after their 7th consecutive defeat, which was also marked James’ absence from the game against the Phoenix Suns. A super-team which was expected to shower all the other teams in the league with its wrath failed at doing the very basic job of getting wins, not once or twice, but throughout the season. The Lakers have given some of the most terrible performances this season even after LeBron’s constant effort of carrying them alone on his shoulders many a times.
At this level in the game, you can not expect one player to do the entire job for you, and that exactly looks like the mistake Lakers made.
Despite the presence of names like Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, Russell Westbrook, Malik Monk, Carmelo Anthony etc. the Lakers have managed to perform below everyone’s expectations, finally getting themselves out of playoffs contention. Even when we thought things couldn’t get any worse for them, they literally did, the team went on losing streaks, the players gave up mid game, created controversies and did many other things which aren’t expected from them, and didn’t to the very basic thing expected from the team, win.
LeBron James who carried the entire team on his shoulder throughout this season has had his legacy questioned by people all the time, and that happened even when we performed well.
Such was the case when one of LeBron’s most famous “well-wishers” surprisingly started caring about the former’s legacy, telling him what he should have done in order to not tarnish it. Skip Bayless, the evergreen NBA Pundit or Analyst never leaves a chance to roast the Lakers, or specifically LeBron James, and he did the exact same thing this time as well, but this time he pretended as if he cared. Bayless’ comments raised arguments on twitter, amassing a plethora of reactions, that too of all sorts. Let us take a closer look at what happened in the game and what Skip Bayless had to say about LeBron missing out on the game and tarnishing his own legacy.
Skip Bayless questions LeBron James’ legacy for missing out a game while injured
Apparently, now you have to play the game even when you are injured, at least that is what Skip expects from all the players in the league, if not all the players, then at least his favourite player, LeBron. LeBron James missed out the Lakers’ eliminator game against the Suns, which resulted in them getting out of playoffs contention, ending all the hopes left for the Los Angeles Lakers. James was out of the game due to an injury to his ankle, and just like all the haters, Bayless decided to rant about James’ absence from the game, which would apparently tarnish his ”legacy”.
The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a tough defeat to the Phoenix Suns by a 11-point margin in a deciding match for their future this season, but everything finally came to an end as the Lakers couldn’t stand up against the pressure put up by the Devin Booker led Suns. Russell Westbrook led the way for the Lakers but all that they seemed to be missing was LeBron James, who sat out the game due to an injury, and it seems as if Bayless didn’t really like it.
Skip Bayless questioned LeBron for sitting out the game and stated that it was essential for him to play despite of his injury due to the importance the match held. His comments were straight to the point as he said, “Lakers face elimination at Phoenix without LeBron. (King: This will not look good on your “GOAT” resume.)” while highlighting his expectations from LeBron and showing his care for the player’s legacy.
Let us now take a look at the reactions people on twitter had to Bayless’ comments on James.
