The debate for the best player in the league continues as this 75th anniversary season keeps on taking turns, players rising to the occasions with hard-fought rivalries among the top players. We are going to look at the 2 leading stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant as Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett come out with their favorites.
Paul Pierce chooses Giannis Antetokounmpo Over Kevin Durant
Giannis Antetokounmpo the best defensive player of the year and the NBA championship winner with Milwaukee Bucks is a beast you do not want to mess with. Paul Pierce said, “Giannis is the most unstoppable player in the league”, Kevin Garnett supports Paul by saying “he (Giannis) is energetic, he’s pumping fans up, talking s**t”.
Kevin Garnett however out rightly rejects that Giannis is the best player in the league by choosing Kevin Durant over Giannis Antetokounmpo, something which Paul Pierce does not take it well and tries to make a comparison over the 2 if they have a 1v1 match. If the two play a one on one it depends on whether the number of dribbles and where the two shoot from. Paul Pierce asks one question which is probably at the time correct “How is KD gonna stop Giannis?”. Giannis is the best defensive player in the league and when the two met Giannis did a good job defending Kevin Durant.
Kevin Garnett chooses Kevin Durant over Giannis Antetokounmpo
Kevin Durant might not be as good as his counterpart in defense, but he is a better offensive player, with accurate shooting from outside the arc and driving in the paint. Kevin Garnet chooses Kevin Durant and says “KD against the league” on one on one, KD was a threat to the Celtics throughout the series showing excellent offensive prowess, though KD and Nets were knocked out by the Bucks, Paul Pierce ask Kevin Garnett a question “so does KD have a better chance at stopping Giannis or Giannis have a better chance to stopping KD?”, to which Kevin Garnett says “KD has got a better chance at stopping Giannis”.
One thing is for sure that Giannis has a better chance at defending Kevin Durant rather than Kevin Durant stopping Giannis. Giannis is the best defensive player in the league. However, Kevin Garnett says “ Imma take better offense over better defense any day!”. One thing is for sure is that Kevin Durant is better at offense, he is probably one of the best offensive player in the league if not the best.
The debate between ‘Slim Reaper v. Greek Freak’, is not an easy one, in 1v1 situation it is easy to say that Giannis Antetokounmpo may be the better player in the paint, but KD with his ability from beyond the arc and inside the paint will give Giannis Antetokounmpo a run for being the Best Defensive Player of the Year.
It comes down from where the battle will be inside the court. KD has a better chance from behind the arc, whereas Giannis Antetokounmpo will take his chances in the paint more as his 3-point shooting is not as good as KD’s. If there was to be a 1v1 matchup between the two it comes down to who takes their chances more than the other. It’s a battle that can come up to no easy conclusion because they excel in two different areas in the court.
