Hubert Davis
North Carolina has had their moments so far in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, but when their head coach Hubert Davis got emotional after securing his team’s berth in the final four, fans all over the world could see the raw emotions of joy and tears. As North Carolina dismantles Saint Peter 69-49 to reach the final four alongside Villanova, Duke and Kansas, first year UNC Head Coach surely could not control his emotions.
When asked about what the win meant for him, Hubert Davis heaped praise onto his team, as his players danced and celebrated in the background. Moreover, he could be seen pointing to the players and yelling, “It’s them, It’s them!”

Hubert Davis cries after beating Saint Peter to reach Final Four
“I’m just so happy for them,” Davis said. “I really wanted this for them. I just desperately wanted this for them. I love these guys so much, they trusted me in my first year, they allowed me to coach them and allowed me to be in their life. I’m here because of them. It has nothing to do about coaching, it’s all them and I’m just, it’s tears of joy being able to be in their lives.”
To those who are not aware of the incredible feat achieved by Hubert Davis, he took over for the legendary Roy Williams after he retired at the end of last season and is now the first men’s coach since North Carolina’s Bill Guthridge in 1998 to lead a team to the Final Four in their first year at the helm.
That being said, the head coach of UNC has every reason to be overflowing with pride as his team has overcome all challenges bundled upon their way. Furthermore, considering the struggles this particular team has endured during the end of the season, there was virtually no expectation that the Tar Heels would stage an NCAA Tournament run and certainly not to this degree. Justifying every tear, they truly this young team truly deserves the applause.
The result of their late-season woes was the gauntlet of working through the Tournament as an 8-seed, which meant an early matchup against Baylor. No matter who was thrown against the Tar Heels during their run to the Final Four, the team took the challenge in some style.
It remains to be seen how Hubert Davis’ army performs in their upcoming final four contest? Will we see them prevail for the ultimate showdown? Guess, time will unravel all answers.
