Charles Oakley and Giannis Antetokounmpo

Charles Oakley also known as the last enforcer had some strong words in order to coin his opinions on the current NBA Fan Favorite and the 2-time NBA MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo who is in contention to potentially be considered one of the greats of this sport already is on his way to achieving that status. Giannis who has dominated the sport since he began his career in the NBA and has already brought a Championship to his team, the Milwaukee Bucks. Giannis who is already being considered to be one of the greatest players in this generation has been showered with praises by the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant and even the current players like LeBron James etc.

With all that is currently being said by people who watch Giannis play in this generation, Charles Oakley doesn’t at all agree with anything that is being said about him, and doesn’t find him of any use to the teams that played in his era. Charles Oakley had brutal takes on Giannis’ style of play and stated that all that he deserved was a seat at the bench in his era and had a few more things that would probably offend a lot many people.

Charles Oakley on the No Pump Fakes podcast seemed slightly offended by the questions asked by the host as he stated that Giannis Antetokounmpo slightly brings the Old School vibe back to the current generation of NBA with his physicality and sheer dominance on the court. Hearing this statement made by the host, Oakley seemed offended and gave a weird look as he went on to give a brutal answer regarding the player.

Oakley went ahead and said that Giannis was doing his thing in the current generation but he was a bit skeptical as he could make a jump shot and free throw but after what he did last year, he didn’t win Oakley over. Oakley went on to state, “he [Giannis] wouldn’t have been a force in the day” following it up with, “he would’ve struggled and they wouldn’t let him get his jump shots”.

Oakley stated that the players back in his era wouldn’t let him make the euro steps that he is doing in the current generation and even though he is managing to get quite a bit of success right now, Oakley feels that he wouldn’t have been anything more than a bench player in his era.

On hearing the statements made by Oakley, even the hosts couldn’t help but question and tell him that “Giannis coming off the bench is a bit too harsh” and stated that Antetokounmpo is a 6ft10 guy who is also very muscular therefore he would play out pretty well back in Oakley’s era.

Let us now take a closer look at the reactions people on twitter had to the statements made by Oakley and what all did they say about his very own performance in the league.
