The Memphis Grizzlies have made quite a lot of sound this season especially since they have struggled to make it through the regular season. This year is a whole other ball game with the team ranking top five among the league’s best with a record (29-14) better than the number one seed in the Eastern Conference the Chicago Bulls.

One of the biggest reasons for the Memphis Grizzlies‘ success in recent years has to do with the addition of Ja Morant. The third-year player is a former rookie of the year who has been a major driving force. Recently, they have been extremely successful in building around their star players after acquiring players like Steven Adams who adds amazing defensive value with the ability to set screens for his front-court players and finish at the rim.

Currently, the team is on a ten-game win streak after beating the number one squad in the Phoenix Suns as well as the Golden State Warriors and Brooklyn Nets. This young team has proven that they do have what it takes to be the best among the best. They stand fourth among the teams of the Western Conference.

Following their outstanding win against the Golden State Warriors and beating both Los Angeles at a stretch, NBA Analyst Stephen A. Smith took to Twitter to make a confession about his thoughts on the Grizzlies squad.

“My apologies to the @memgrizz (Memphis grizzlies). I have slept on these brothers. I know Ja Morant is special, but I love their size, athleticism, depth, and perimeter shooting. This team is a legitimate threat in the West. They have my attention.” said Smith through Twitter.

To put this into context, the Grizzlies have emerged as league leaders in blocks and rebounds per game as well as ranking third in points. Ja Morant leads the team with 24.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. This is backed by the incredible three-point shooting and secondary scoring of Desmond Bane who is averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists with one steal.

Despite having two of their top tier players out, Steven Adams and Dillon Brooks, they were able to defeat the Clippers (Brooks suffered an injury during this game and Adams entered the health and safety right after) the Lakers, and the Warriors all in a three-game stretch
