LeBron James has been at the top of his game this season and it is almost as if he has re-entered his prime self. The Los Angeles Lakers forward is currently making a huge push into becoming the greatest player of all time, some might say he has the throne already. Even though the Lakers have not been able to keep up the standards of the organization, LeBron certainly has with his determination to be better than everyone else and his hard-working nature.

The King is averaging 30 points this season which he last came close to over 10 years ago in Cleveland. He also grabs 8.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. He shoots his best from three this season making 2.8 of his 7.9 attempts per game averaging 52.3% from the field and making his Lakers career-best 75.8% from the foul line.

Ever since his return from an injury in December, LeBron James has been extremely consistent on offense. He is a certified scorer of the ball who runs a large part of the Lakers’ offense. Recently, James passed up Karl Malone for second all-time on the scoring list after finishing with 38 points and 10 rebounds against the Washington Wizards on March 19, 2022. James currently needs 1,403 points to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the top spot.

Needing as many points to beat the all-time record would require LBJ less than a season to achieve depending on how well he performs on offense in the following games and season up ahead. If he averaged 30 points per game he would need only 45 games of the regular season to get past the record. In an alternative scenario, if he was to average just 25 points or 20 on the dot, he would need 60-70 games of consistent scoring.

Draymond Green, a member of the Golden State Warriors and long-time rival of the King recently opened up about plans ahead of LeBron breaking the all-time record. On his own show, Green called out his head coach Steve Kerr to prefer for the day the record is set to be broken. The player said he would not mind skipping his own game to witness history being made.

“Congrats to LeBron, second all-time. Probably has fifty or seventy games or so he’ll be first all-time. And I can’t wait to see that and I hope. Steve Kerr, I’m throwing this out there right now, if LeBron James is passing the all-time scoring record and we have a game, I’m going to LeBron’s game and witness history.” James and Green have both competed against each other in the NBA finals before meeting in four consecutive finals. The Warriors won three of those appearances with the Cleveland Cavaliers taking the trophy in 2016.
