“Paul George or LeBron James, not this year” Steve Kerr takes a subtle dig at Lakers star after failing to qualify for playoffs
Steve Kerr and LeBron James
Steve Kerr has gone after LeBron James and the Lakers even though it has barely been a day or two to the confirmation of the news that the Los Angeles Lakers have been thrown out of the play-offs contention. The entire world saw this moment coming, they had this scenario played in their mind already where Lakers wouldn’t be able to make it to the playoffs, forget hopes of getting the NBA Championship this year, and this wasn’t some rocket science where you would have to make several calculations in order to guess what was about to happen. Any normal person with eyes could have seen this happening long back away by the looks of how the Lakers were playing.
LeBron James, the star player and the sole hope of the Los Angeles Lakers was the one who carried the team throughout the season on his shoulders alone despite the presence of big names in a big “super-team” like Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis etc. which were expected to cause great trouble to anyone that came in front of them, but unfortunately, what happened was the exact opposite.
The Lakers struggled the entire season, sometimes with injuries, but most of the times due to the lack of effort being displayed by their players. James, despite all of this tried to carry his team to the play-offs, but when you’re playing at such a high level, a single player can’t change a lot for the entire team.
With all of this going down and while the Lakers are already in pain due to the most recent happening of them getting out of play-offs contention, Steve Kerr found the perfect joke, and the perfect timing to say it, sending the entire internet in hysterics, appreciating his humour. Kerr made one of the smoothest jokes in the history of basketball as he took a dig at LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in a conversation on the “95.7 The Game” Podcast.
Steve Kerr roasts LeBron James and the Lakers for not being able to make it to the playoffs
The Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James fell out of playoffs contention in after their 7th consecutive defeat, which was also marked James’ absence from the game against the Phoenix Suns. A super-team which was expected to shower all the other teams in the league with its wrath failed at doing the very basic job of getting wins, not once or twice, but throughout the season. The Lakers have given some of the most terrible performances this season even after LeBron’s constant effort of carrying them alone on his shoulders many a times.
The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a tough defeat to the Phoenix Suns by a 11-point margin in a deciding match for their future this season, but everything finally came to an end as the Lakers couldn’t stand up against the pressure put up by the Devin Booker led Suns. Russell Westbrook led the way for the Lakers but despite that, they couldn’t get it done. The missing piece in the game, LeBron James will also be missed in the playoffs by none other than the Golden State Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr who hit the soft spot and roasted LeBron with a subtle dig.
While in conversation with the hosts on the 95.7 The Game podcast, Kerr was asked about Stephen Curry’s injury update and if he would play in the playoffs. Steve Kerr said that he would love to have Curry start of the playoffs with Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole but they would have to see where Curry stands during that time, and if he is perfectly fit in order to play or not.

Kerr went on to follow it by saying that they would need to be prepared in order to face and guard names like Paul George or LeBron James, but he immediately cut short his statement by saying that it wouldn’t happen this year as James was out of play-offs contention and that it was just a subtle dig.
The people on the podcast also went on to discus the comments made by LeBron James where he said that he wanted to play with Stephen Curry once and Steve Kerr laughed it out saying that could definitely happen this post-season. Let us now take a closer look at the reactions people on twitter had to these comments made by Kerr on James.
