Whether or not LeBron James is able to make his way to the GOAT tag after the end of his NBA stint, remains to be a matter of time. But it is surely undeniable to acknowledge that the 37-year-old Los Angeles Laker star has always been ‘once in a lifetime’ athlete. Even when you’re in your 19th year in the world’s toughest basketball league, LeBron has been able to contest in the scoring charts against the relatively younger class. 

On one hand where critics like Skip Bayless have brutally mocked LeBron James for failing to inspire his team in the 2021-22 season. Rick Ross decided to make the King feel good as he declared him the KING who emerged from the streets. Furthermore, he decided to talk about the influence LeBron has had on the current generations, on and off the court.

To those who are not aware, LeBron James hosted the latest episode of his barbershop talk show, “The Shop,” alongside Maverick Carter. On the latest episode, multiple award-winning rappers Rick Ross and Gunna, WNBA player A’Ja Wilson and businessman Steve Stoute were guests. In an elite cast at disposal, they surely spoke about the influence LBJ has had on this generation and how it has been growing year after year.

Rick Ross spoke about James’ impact on people and how long he hopes James will stay on the court before retiring. Ross said that King James was still needed and that he was the epitome of motivation for a lot of people. He also remarked that the singular fact that he’s been called “The King” is no small feat. 

“The streets need him,” Ross said. “We need that motivation. We need that inspiration. You know, the streets call that boy ‘The King.’ You can’t get that shit if you ain’t earn that.” 

After which, Gunna agreed with Rick Ross and shared that LeBron James must remain on the court, whether as a player or as a coach.

“He can’t leave the court,” Gunna said. “If he leaves from playing basketball, he better be coaching, right? ‘Cause we need him on the court at all times.”
