Being a veteran in modern-day NBA, Chris Paul’s contribution to the growth of Phoenix Suns has been beyond description. Making sure that he helped Monty Williams’ tea to the first place in the West and best record in the league, the 12-time All-Star has gone onto become the first recipient of the WNBA Advocacy award named after Kobe and Gigi Bryant. 

To those who are not aware, this award is handed over to the personnel who has had immense contribution in the advancement of girls and women’s basketball and advocacy of the WNBA. This being something that Kobe Bryant dearly held in his heart, all his life, this award is inaugurated this year.

One of Kobe’s greatest efforts is that he became a vocal leader in helping the advancement of girls’ and women’s basketball. He coached his daughter, Gianna and her AAU basketball team. Bryant was also the face of the Mamba Sports Academy. The academy focused on mental and physical training for all athletes, skill levels, sex and ages.

According to the reports of Shams, Chris Paul will be presented with this award on Sunday Night after the All-Star showdown. He would be presented with this award by Vanessa Bryant and WNBA President, Cathy Engelbert. The Point God has been a huge supported of the WNBA and Women’s basketball all his life and his spend plenty of time in upbringing the closing out the differences against Men’s basketball.

That being said talking about the same, President of the WNBA, Cathy Engelbert spoke about Chris Paul, “I have seen first-hand Chris’ appreciation of the WNBA and the game at every level for women and girls, especially in Phoenix and North Carolina, and his ardent support of our game strongly reflects the legacy of Kobe and Gigi.” 

But first and foremost, CP3 will be up and representing Team LeBron in the much-awaited star-studded showdown on Sunday against Team Durant starring Joel Embiid. Does he have a chance of winning the All-Star MVP? Remains to be seen.
