“That’s the best ever team assembled”: Jay Williams picks the dominant winner between 1996 Chicago Bulls vs 2017 Golden State Warriors

Michael Jordan and Stephen Curry

When Stephen Curry was asked a question upon who the winner might be from the nearly perfect and undefeatable 1996 Chicago Bulls and 2017 Golden State Warriors, the 3-point king claimed that his team might have a strong case against the most successful team in the late 90s. With that being said, fans and analysts were left in a pickle on who might actually be the winner. With First Take all set to discuss the same, Jay Williams surely opinionated his views upon the same.

Stephen Curry’s 2016-17 Golden State Warriors not only won the NBA Championship but also was near invincible throughout the season. On the other hand, 1996 Chicago Bulls was feared as most destructive team ever with the likes of MJ, Pippen and Rodman among others. So, being a former Bulls player from a different era, who did Jay Williams pick and why?

What was opinionated by former Chicago Bulls player Jay Williams?

Williams stated, “I think that the 2016-2017 Golden State Warriors is the best basketball team ever assembled! … I think that Golden State WOULD win this series in six!”

Jay Williams was on the same page as Stephen Curry’s as both felt that the Dub Nation might emerge victorious, given the depth and scoring ability of majority of its players.

To those who are not aware, the 1996 Chicago Bulls reached its pinnacle in the 1995-96 season, finishing 72-10 on the way to the first ring of what would eb a second three-peat in the Windy City. On the other hand, the 2016-17 Warriors made a name for themselves when they registered a 73-9 record in the season, after falling out in the final a season before Cavaliers.

With Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson on one side and Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman on the other? We will never know which trio would have reigned superior but it is safe to say, that it would have been one of the best matchups till date.
