But did you know there was an Indian man behind the commendable fitness of the 5 time NBA champion? Yes, you heard that right, Tim Grover, who trained both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant has Indian national parents. They moved to London once they were married. Tim and his brother were born in London.

Grover remained Jordan’s personal trainer for 15 years after his second spell of retirement. Jordan introduced Kobe to Grover in 2007. Then on, Grover remained Kobe’s personal trainer from 2007 to 2012. Tim excelled in his work with Jordan, which helped him earn a role with Bryant and access to two of the NBA’s greatest minds.

Grover gained from their partnership by understanding a lot about Bryant’s motivations. Some of that knowledge is rightly present in his most recent book, “Winning: The Unforgiving Race to Greatness,” published. Grover imparted some of that knowledge on the Steven Bartlett-hosted podcast “The Diary of a CEO.” Grover outlined the distinction between an interested and an obsessed person, the latter of which is more likely to affect global change.

He stated: “You can’t be interested, and you can’t be obsessed. Interested in a hobby. Kobe Bryant was not interested in winning championships; he was obsessed. And obsession comes in the small details that nobody pays attention to. And I have a saying all right: ‘Interested people watch obsessed people change the world.’” Bryant won five championships and cemented his place in NBA history because of his obsession with the game and his desire to be the best in the league

Tim Grover once compared both the legend to each other

Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan’s personal trainer Tim Grover once compared the two legends to one another. He explained how they had different approaches to working out. Grover claimed in his book, “Winning: The Unforgiving Race to Greatness,” that he dislikes making comparisons between the two titans because they were both remarkable in their own right.

“I don’t like to compare because, in my opinion, they were so different and special that it’s an insult to both,” Grover said. Kobe made more effort. MJ was more productive. Kobe, according to Grover, “never stopped” bettering himself and was constantly attempting to push the boundaries of what was possible.

After his second retirement, Grover worked as Jordan’s personal trainer for 15 years. In 2007, Jordan introduced Kobe to Grover. From 2007 until 2012, Grover continued to serve as Kobe’s personal trainer. Kobe and Jordan had distinct routines, according to Grover’s own admission, because of their “different body types, different periods in [their] career, and different areas that needed to be addressed.”
