Manging to secure the 2nd berth in the Western Conference, the Grizzlies’ recent run has shown that they are a combined unit, with or without marquee star JA Morant. Which has surely led Kendrick Perkins to make bold prediction about the Western Conference winners.
Not only is JA Morant, the leading contender for the Most Improved Player, the likes of Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr have shaken the league, by their elite performances game after game. The Grizzlies are 18-2 without Morant and have surely made a fan in Kendrick Perkins, who has deemed them as the WC winners.

While discussing the form of Memphis Grizzlies on NBA on ESPN, Perkins said, “Let me tell you something about the Memphis Grizzlies, they don’t give a damn who you are. They have zero respect for you when it comes between those lines.”
Why are the Grizzlies catching eyes approaching the playoffs? The young, inspired and enthusiastic squad is fresh off a dominant 123-95 win against Golden State on Monday night. Not even the defending champions could stop them last week, as Grizzlies managed to humiliate Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks 127-102.
Perkins added, “If Ja Morant wasn’t on the Memphis Grizzlies, and we see this team playing the way they’re playing the way right now, what would we be saying right now? We all be saying, ‘Man, they’re one superstar away from being legit title contenders.’ But guess what? They actually have that superstar, and he’s coming back in about the next five days or so.”
Talking about the stats, Ja Morant has appeared in 56 games, averaging 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game. Moreover, he is a notable force to miss, but the Memphis Grizzlies have proved to be able to hold it down without him. Which is they are reckoned as one of the favorites to win the Western Conference in the 2021-22 season. Perhaps will they face Suns in the ultimate playoff showdown? Only time will unravel all speculations.
