If Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets were to get past Trae Young’s Atlanta Hawks, they needed their star duo-Miles Bridges and LaMelo Ball to fire on all cylinders. However, the reality was much different, as the home team brutally dominated their opposition to win via comfortable 29-point margin.
What’s even worse? Miles Bridges could not even stand until the clock tied out as he was ejected from the game over a controversial goaltending call. The Hornets failed to get stops, turned the ball over, and couldn’t get any rhythm on the offensive end. As a result of which Miles Bridges got even more frustrated upon his teammates. Just a tough way to see their hard-fought season getting ended.
Miles Bridges’ honest admission on Hornets after loss vs Hawks
James Borrego and Terry Rozier admitted that the team plan was to stop Trae Young. To a certain extent, the Hornets were able to manage to keep the marquee scorer quiet as he was able to score only 8 points in the first half. However, the second half of the game, was a totally different story with all players finding their rhythm except those in a Blue jersey.
“We turned the ball over, took bad shots and they got anything they wanted on offense,” Miles Bridges said on what happened in the loss as quoted by ClutchPoints. “They did all the right things, they kicked our ass, simple as that. That third quarter really defined everything.”
Talking about the Hawks vs Hornets showdown, in that third quarter that Bridges mentioned, the home tea scored 42 points to the Hornets’ tally of mere 24. Furthermore, Charlotte Hornets just did not bring it on either side of the ball on Wednesday night and it showed. However, even though they failed to make the postseason, this season wasn’t a total bust for them.
All eyes will now be on how Hornets are able to equip an elite set of players around Miles Bridges and LaMelo Ball in the upcoming season. Will we find a change in the momentum for MJ’s side? Remains to be seen.
