“They scapegoated him and Russ the entire year” Charles Barkley furious over Lakers’ decision of expelling coach Frank Vogel
Frank Vogel and Russell Westbrook
Charles Barkley had some stern words to say about the Los Angeles Lakers management and other people responsible for the current state of the team, calling them out for scapegoating one or two people in the entire season, and therefore pitting the blame over their head in order to run away from their accountability of building a young team, which would dare to fight back from the position they had been in.
It is no surprise that Lakers expelled their head coach Frank Vogel as he had been one of the few people who faced the wrath of the entire fanbase, pundits, players, analysts and many other people for the state that the team was in, and it also is not very hard to notice that the blame was deliberately put on him despite him not being in control of most of those situations.
The Los Angeles Lakers have finally fired their head coach Frank Vogel, which was a news expected to come anytime soon with the waw things were going inside the team management. The blame for the terrible state of the team shifted between two people from the entire squad, Russell Westbrook and their coach Frank Vogel, and these are the two people who had to feel devastating pain all around the year caused by hurtful comments coming from a multitude of people, not only limited to viewers, but also analysts and their own teammates.
The conclusion which came up in the discussion on Inside the NBA show was that the team was old, very old, and that was the reason as to why they were performing terribly, it wasn’t Vogel or Westbrook’s fault.
Charles Barkley had some firm words to say regarding some “unknown” people in the Lakers squad/management who were responsible for building this “old” squad, which was expected to perform the way they performed. Barkley stated that the blame should be put on the person who was hiding, and not Vogel, who was made the scapegoat. The fault was not his, but of the people he couldn’t control. Let us take a closer look in this conversation and analyse what Barkley had to say about the Lakers’ situation.

Ernie Johnson read out the tweet which announced that the Lakers had decided to fire coach Frank Vogel, which was something that they had seen coming, and Barkley seemed furious over it. He seemed furious over the fact that the Lakers successfully managed to scapegoat Russell Westbrook and Frank Vogel the entire year despite of the fact that it was their inefficacy which brought them in the situation they were in.
The team was full of old players, who had an average age way above 30, and in fact were the only team in the entire league to have an average age above 30. Barkley stated that the scapegoating was wrong and shouldn’t have been done as it wasn’t the coach’s fault that he didn’t get the players he really needed, in fact got players out of others’ whims and fancies.
Let us now take a closer look at the reactions people on twitter had to this report of Vogel being expelled from the Los Angeles Lakers with no frontrunner to occupy the position of head coach. Amidst great controversy, the Lakers have landed themselves in deeper trouble with this move, and it will be interesting to see how it plays out for them.
