“Lakers and Nets are fighting for play-in berths with no title hopes” Frustrated Nick Wright elaborate upon the fall of LeBron James and Kevin Durant

It is ironic that the two teams which were handpicked by everybody to win the title this year are both fighting to stay within reach of the play-in tournaments. First let us start with the Los Angeles Lakers, who have been viewed as the most experienced group in the league with the best chances of winning are currently 9th in the Western Conference. They have a record of 31 wins and 41 losses with a successful last few games for the most part.

The other scenario involves the Brooklyn Nets who have had a very rough start to their season. The Nets were looking rock solid early on in the season but injuries played the role of the grim reaper in their storyline. They are the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 38 wins and 34 losses. With both teams being captained by LeBron James and Kevin Durant, does this mean that both players have now reached the end?

Last night, many of us got to witness the Cleveland Cavaliers with LeBron the opposition. The Cavs have had a much better season than the Lakers but the Lakers did not make it seem that way. In a match where both teams kept the score to a bare minimum, the players in purple and gold made solid efforts to emerge victoriously. The game concluded at 131-120 with the Lakers making a defensive push.

LeBron James finished the game with a triple-double under his name scoring 38 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists. The 37-year old shot 58.6% from the field without making a single three-pointer. LeBron has not recorded such a stat line in over a decade. During the game, the King had a few high points including a dunk over his former teammate Kevin Love.

Besides the Lakers, the Brooklyn Nets had also won a game against the Utah Jazz. Kevin Durant concluded the match with a near triple-double of 37 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists shooting 15 of 23 attempts from the field. As you see, both teams are on the brink of losing it all this season fighting with just a strand of fiber holding it all in place. Does KD and Bron scoring 30+ points per night have any worth in it?

According to analyst Nick Wright, the games being played by both teams right now are just for show. He said, “The team (Lakers) stinks and they make me angry watching them. 10 years ago, LeBron and KD were the two best players in basketball and they met in the NBA finals. Five years later, they were still the best two players in basketball and they met in the NBA finals. Today, they’re top three… fighting for the play-in with no title hopes. Its frustrating.” Wright had said that the numbers being put up are worthless especially if they are just for putting on a show for the fans to witness.
