We all know NBA players have their differences with the on-court officials. We have seen many instances where players would blatantly express their anger over a call they felt was unnecessary. At times they would also show out at the referees for not giving them a foul call. During such instances, the referee could call for an ejection if he feels like he is being taunted or violated in any way.
But recently, players have said that the league has become soft over petty things such as a challenge over a call, celebrations, etc. For the Phoenix Suns, we all know Chris Paul as one of the best point guards and ‘sellers’ of the NBA. Paul has been involved in numerous battles with the referees. Only this time, it was not his fault at all.
Suns’ Chris Paul ejected after accidental bump into official
Early during the second half of the game, the whistle was blown on an inbounds possession of the Houston Rockets after Chris Paul injured his right thumb. The point god had acted out in frustration towards the referee which made him accidentally bump into another. The referee assumed Paul had purposely shoved him aside and ejected him from the game. The NBA veteran had also received a technical foul as a result of yelling at the official who initially stopped play.
The Phoenix Suns can no longer be thought of as a normal prospect out of the Western Conference, but they have the best chances at winning the title this season from their division. They have the best record in the league at the moment with 48 wins and 10 losses. This is something Suns fans would have never dreamed of a few seasons ago.
During their quest towards another victory, they defeated their polar opposite Houston Rockets concluding the game 124-121. Devin Booker had a decent game finishing with 24 points, 3 rebounds, and 8 assists shooting a much lower 31.8% from the field. This was backed up by Deandre Ayton’s 23 points and 9 rebounds. Ayton has improved drastically on offense since his previous seasons.
The team recorded 10 steals and 7 blocks on just 11 turnovers. They shot 51.2% from the field, 29.2% from the arc, and 80.6% from the line. The Suns definitely a team to be feared during the post-season as they are also coming off a finals run from last season. Chris Paul will be reviewed with an MRI in a few days but is expected to get some time off.
Fans react to the ejection calling NBA officials “soft”
At times fans are extremely loyal towards their teams and never feel shy of expressing their frustration online. Suns fans in particular have another level of passion in their support especially after having been the worst team in the league at one point. Here are a couple of reactions.
