“Took all the limelight” Kevin Durant gets pissed after Jayson Tatum’s 54-point outburst

Jayson Tatum and Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant’s return against the Miami Heat was the biggest talking point couple of days back, as the Brooklyn Nets was finally expecting to get back to winning ways. However, the result did not end in the favor of Steve Nash’s team. But with Kyrie Irving being able to pair up with one of his favorite partners after a long time, many expected Nets to get the better of Celtics. Until Jayson Tatum stepped up.

The Boston Celtics marquee went berserk as he led his team over the line against the rigid Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Seth Curry led team. However, it was Jayson Tatum who single handedly led the proceedings for the home team. What’s even more shocking? In the 126-120 win, Tatum scored more than double of any of his teammates, which surely ended up pissing Kevin Durant.

Kevin Durant shakes head in disbelief after Jayson Tatum’s 54-point explosion

With time winding out in the fourth quarter and Jayson Tatum at the free-throw line, Durant could be seen shaking his head, visibly frustrated, as the Nets failed to squeeze out a victory against their rival Celtics. Kevin Durant put up an admirable performance of his own in the loss, dropping 37 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists, but it ultimately wasn’t enough to counteract the huge night from Tatum.

The loss sees Durant and Brooklyn drop to 32-33 on the season. Should the regular season come to an end on Sunday, the Nets would only qualify for the play-in tournament, currently slotted as the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Brooklyn Nets have now lost both games that Durant has played in since his return from his MCL sprain. He has played well in both games, but the team hasn’t managed to squeak out a victory.

That being said, after this loss the Nets have slipped to the 9th seed in the Eastern Conference. With the entire pressure on the shoulders of Durant in the coming weeks, will the Nets be able to pull up a miracle in closing a playoff berth? Surely, they require someone leading like Jayson Tatum.
