“Trade him ASAP” Zion Williamson falls asleep as Pelicans come from behind to eliminate Clippers
Zion Williamson
New Orleans fans are upset with their star forward Zion Williamson who was seen drowsing on the sidelines during the most important game for the team, where the Pelicans defeated the Clippers to make it into the playoffs on Friday night.
The last game of the play-in tournament was full of back and forth for both teams. It was an insane battle between the Pelicans and Clippers, where Brandon Ingram scored 30 points and made his team overcome a 13-point deficit in the last quarter which helped them to edge out the LA-based franchise by 105-101. With this win, the Pelicans finally made their place in the playoffs after the 2018 season.
On the other side, The Clippers got a big shock when it was announced that Paul George has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols. The team was already shorthanded due to Kawhi Leonard’s ACL injury and Luke Kennard’s sore right hamstring. Not having the big guns in the game surely made the thing worse for them during the game against the Pelicans. But even the Pelicans were without Zion Williamson who was sitting on the bench to cheer the team for this crucial game.

Will Zion Williamson debut for the Pelicans in the postseason games?
Zion Williamson’s injury has been catching a lot of headlines lately as his team has shown potential to make a deep playoff run, so it was expected by fans that even he will try to make his debut this season in postseason games but it seems that he needs more time to recover from the foot injury which even Andrew Lopez of ESPN discussed in his recent article.
He wrote, “According to multiple sources, there’s currently a difference of opinion between the Pelicans and Williamson on whether he is healthy enough to play. The team maintains that the bone in Williamson’s foot hasn’t healed enough for him to take the floor.”
Lopez has explained that the Pelicans’ management thinks that Williamson is fit to play in the games but the star player doesn’t agree with it which has raised the tension between the player and the franchise. He also added that Williamson has reduced his weight and is back to his playing weight.
He wrote, “When he showed up to media day prior to the season, he looked well above his listed playing weight of 285 pounds.
Sources have told ESPN that Williamson is closer to his playing weight than he was at that date. Part of what he did in Portland was conditioning as much as he could while avoiding putting too much weight on his recovering foot.”
The New Orleans-based franchise is heading to playoffs without their all-star, although he has a great future ahead with the Pelicans difference in his playing condition might trigger Williamson to opt for trade.
