NBA Trade RUMORS: CJ McCollum to Boston Celtics? Channing Frye believes so!
Portland Trailblazers‘ dream run in the NBA came in the year, 2019. Wherein they reached the Western Conference finals, but where unfortunately defeated via the hands of the Golden State Warriors. That amazing run for the Trailblazers was on the backs of the duo of CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard. While the former is rumoured to be drafted away with free agency. Boston Celtics could be a franchise who would want to capture this sensation.
McCollum has averaged more than 22 points, 4 assists and rebounds throughout his career at Trailblazers. Former Blazers’ centre Channing Frye believes that CJ should not be sold until any franchise gets to his true value.
Channing Frye on CJ McCollum
On NBC’s ‘Talkin’ Blazers’ Podcast, Joe Fann joined hosts Dan Sheldon and Channing Frye to discuss everything about the Trail Blazers, including free agency.
Channing Frye warned the Boston Celtics on what it would take for them to gain McCollum. He said, “If you want CJ McCollum and somebody, you’d have to give me Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart… That’s what I see CJ’s value as.”
Not only that, but Frye added Gordon Hayward with Marcus as another potential pair for the trade. The point Frye was trying to make was that a deal surrounding McCollum should be an excellent one because of what he’s worth.
McCollum has done an excellent job in always playing the supporting role alongside Lillard. He even looks happy to be a part with his long term associated franchise. So, whether or not he leaves the Trailblazers is always a question in doubt. But what Frye suggests is right, any team who wants CJ McCollum would have to fight for him.
