NBA Trade Rumors: Serge Ibaka to Los Angeles Lakers
With the duo of Lebron James and Anthony Davis finally working for the Los Angeles Lakers, they would look to retain their championship in the 2020-21 season. But with the draft date approaching, Lakers could surely lose some key supportive players to free agency. Knowing their strength, the Lakers would look to capture huge and strong defensive players.
One such player is being rumoured to be Serge Ibaka of Toronto Raptors. With the potential exits for Dwight Howard and Markieff Morris, Ibaka could be a perfect replacement. He is also an add on from behind the arc as he has an accuracy of more than 38%.
Serge Ibaka to Los Angeles Lakers
“From a personnel standpoint, he is exactly the kind of combo big guy that team (the Lakers) needs,” an unnamed NBA general manager told Heavy.com. “They have had an interest in him before and they will again. If he is willing to accept what the Lakers can afford to give him, I know they would want him.”
While the Raptors will hope to keep Ibaka around, they also have Fred VanVleet entering Free Agency. The latter is more important to the team, and so the Congolese big man could be on his way out.
Ibaka’s biggest asset is his offensive surprise. He had his best offensive season last year, scoring more than 15 points per game. This is something that the Lakers would be keen for, one of the core reasons for success for the Lakers was their bench strength. Be it Caruso, Kuzma or Pope. But it is only up to November 18, when all these speculations will be answered. Until then it is all uncertain who goes where. But do let us know what are your predictions about the NBA drafts?
