LA Lakers star rookie Austin Reaves stunned everyone present in Denver’s Ball Arena, as his efforts made the game move to overtime where they defeated the Nuggets in their last game of the 2022 season by 146-141 on Sunday Night.
The game between the Lakers and Nuggets was the last game of the LA as they are already eliminated and for the Denver, it was their final game before the postseason starts. There was nothing at stake but still, the Lakers were fighting for honor and to give a proper farewell to the head coach Frank Vogel who might be fired soon, but the person who made it possible was Austin Reaves in this endgame.
He scored his career-high of 31 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists. the game was looking in the control of the Nuggets but it was Reaves who brought the game back in the favor of the Lakers because of his steal and layup in the clutch situation LA was able to push the game to overtime. Even in OT, Reaves continued his fire performance where he scored seven straight points which includes a 3-pointer, and brought the LAL in a 142-137 lead.
The Lakers were without Lebron James, Anthony Davis, Carmelo Anthony, and Russell Westbrook but still, the squad played a better game in this victory where Malik Monk led the team with a career-high of 41 points and Reaves finished the game with an extraordinary performance.

Will Los Angeles Lakers retain Rookie Austin Reaves for next season?
This season was a complete disaster and one of the worst in the entire history of the Lakers franchise. All hype of being a championship favorite messed up as the LA-based franchise even failed to qualify for the play-in tournament. The whole team faced criticism from fans but one undrafted rookie earned the most respect and it was Austin Reaves. Whenever the Lakers needed someone to perform off the bench it was Reaves, they looked up to.
Throughout this season, the Lakers rookie continued to show his ability to score points at key moments, getting the game board running which shows how good the future he has in front of him in this league.
As for the Lakers, there is no doubt that the front office will give a big thought to it, whether the franchise needs to retain Austin Reaves or trade him to get any other elite basketball star.
