Detailed breakdown of the play which resulted in Michael Jordan’s iconic dunk over Patrick Ewing

Michael Jordan gifted the poster to Patrick Ewing in the second quarter. MJ received a pass from John Paxson on the left side of the floor. He then was double-teamed by Mark Jackson and Kiki VanDeWeghe. And, crossing them he straight took a drive towards the paint where Charles Oakley was standing. But then moved back to the corner with Kiki VanDeWeghe on him and then clowned them both, got in the paint and destroyed Patrick Ewing with the dunk.
The New York Knicks’ legend tried his best to block MJ. But that ain’t easy as Black Jesus gets a little higher than his opponents due to his Airness. And, that’s exactly what happened during the play.
Michael Jordan reflecting on the dunk once quoted: “I told him, Georgetown guys don’t block shots, they take charges. I dunked it on him so hard it was unbelievable. Every time I see him, that’s the first thing I remind him of.” The dunk is just one of the many moments they have had in their rivalry dating back to the time even before they made it to the league.
