After the hiatus caused by on-going Covid-19 pandemic, the All-Star game later this month will finally have spectators cheering for their favorite hooper in the exhibition game in Cleveland. Being the celebratory 75th anniversary year of the league, the NBA decided to introduce new Kobe Bryant trophy, which is loved by Vanessa Bryant. The league revealed the particular piece Thursday morning. 

Moreover, the spoken of Kobe Bryant trophy to be introduced in the 2022 All-Star game is ordinary one, it has four levels all paying tribute to the Black Mamba. The first level has 24 stars, symbolic to the jersey number downed by Bryant in the second half of his career. The level measure 7-inches tall, which pays homage to Kobe Bryant’s 2007 All-Star Game MVP.

The second level features 10 stars, which represent the jersey number downed by Kobe Bryant while he played for USA in the Olympics. Moreover, it’s 9-inch height is a hat tip to Bryant’s 2009 ASG MVP Award. Now the third level has five stars, which many would be aware, indicate the number of championships ring he has won with the Los Angeles Lakers. 

Last but not the least, on the fourth level, the league said “a single star represents Kobe’s NBA MVP Award in the 2007-08 season.” The NBA also noted its 2-inch height is emblematic of his two Finals MVP awards. 

The mastermind behind the design, Victor Solomon, said in a statement Thursday he worked “tirelessly” to make the piece and in an IG post, Vanessa said she resoundingly approved of it.

“I love everything this trophy represents,” Vanessa wrote, “all of my husband’s hard work and dedication ~ Mamba Mentality ???? Thank you @NBA & @victorsolomon.” 

Lastly, the 2022 All-Star game will be played on February 20 in Cleveland, with two captains – LeBron James and Kevin Durant yet to form their entire team. Players like Trae Young, Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, JA Morant, Andrew Wiggins and DeMar DeRozan have been named as the starters.
