“We applaud his successes, then we should also criticize his failures” Ric Bucher gets brutally honest on LeBron James’ Lakers missing play-in tournament

LeBron James and Lakers
LeBron James and the Lakers failed to capitalise on a 20-point halftime lead as the New Orleans Pelicans came from behind, to snatch a hard-fought victory. As a result of which, the purple and gold went onto fall in the Western Conference standings to the 10th seed and just a one-loss ahead of San Antonio Spurs. Which surely made Ric Bucher get brutally honest on the expectations from the Lakers in the 2021-22 season.
The LeBron James’ army have been a major flop throughout the 2021-22 season. While teams like Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls also recovering from a bad form in the second half of the season, the Lakers have just not been able to register wins against their name. Moreover, have either given up games from the first quarter or haven’t had the intensity to protect their lead. Making Ric Bucher get mightily frustrated on them.

Ric Bucher weighed in on the possibility of the Lakers missing the play-in tournament on First Things First and said, “Yes, it’s a big deal. It’s a huge deal. First of all, everything involving LeBron James is a big deal. And if we’re going to make as much about his successes as we have, then we have to make as big a deal about his failures. And this – without question – is a failure.”
On one hand where LeBron James has played 55 games this season, averaging 30.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists. While the numbers may indicate greatness at age 37, the failure Bucher talks about is being unable to win.
“You raised the expectations of what this team was capable of doing. It has not met – hasn’t come close to meeting – it. I don’t wanna hear about Anthony Davis being missing and that’s why they’re possibly, very likely going to miss the playoffs altogether.
“LeBron James, according to Nick Wright, remains one of the top 10 players in the league. At the very least, they should be getting into the play-in game. I’m lowering the bar from the playoffs. Just get into the play-in.”

With the latest loss against the Dallas Mavericks, making the Spurs and Lakers stand alongside one another, the purple and gold easily have the tougher schedule remaining. Will LeBron James feature in the postseason? Remains to be seen.
