The Phoenix Suns have been on fire lately casually getting past opponents with ease. They are on an 11-game win streak having recently beaten the Brooklyn Nets by a significant margin. Right now, they are one of the top projected winners out of the Western Conference.
As far success goes, the Phoenix Suns did not possess the winning experience in them with a cast filled with the youngest players struggled to make an impact in the world of basketball. Despite having one of the most talented guards in the league, the Suns took a while to build around Devin Booker.
Rebuild started back in 2018, when they acquired a few roles players to surround Booker with. Kelly Oubre Jr. and Ricky Rubio were two popular signings and then the hiring of Head Coach Monty Williams almost immediately brought about change in their style of playing.
Eventually, the team would have to part ways with a few good players to create cap space for bigger names. Chris Paul was their biggest signing during the 2020 off-season. Paul had already played under Coach Williams in New Orleans during which they were very successful.
The Suns are arguably the best team in the league at the moment
For the Phoenix Suns, Devin Booker still stands at the top averaging 25.4 points with 5.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and one steal per game followed by 12.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game by Mikal Bridges.
Chris Paul has been putting up his consistent and effective 14.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game shooting 48.9% from the field and 34.4% from three while grabbing 1.9 steals per game this season. His experience brought the team extra knowledge and veteran leadership as it was something they desperately needed. He also leads the NBA in assists recorded per game and ranks third in the league in steals per game.
Dwayne Wade speaks out for Chris Paul being the most overlooked player
Dwayne Wade and Chris Paul have had a very close relationship off the court. Wade joined by Candice Parker and Shaquille O’Neal, had some words of opinion he needed to share. He said, “I know we talk a lot about and rightfully so, we talk about LeBron he’s doing his nineteenth year. We don’t talk a lot about what Chris Paul is doing at 36-years old in his seventeenth year as a six foot.”
He further compliment is buddy saying, “You think about Chris Paul, you about a leader. Obviously, Devin Booker is the young up and coming star. Chris came there and said listen, imam get you to that next level.”
The point god has been a very important factor towards the improvement of others’ skillset. His presence has always brought good things for the team as you would have seen while he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder. That team was projected to be one of the worst teams but turned out to make it through the first round of the playoffs.
“We don’t give Chris Paul his flowers enough. He’s one of the top fifteen players in the game. He will be named an All-Star, he should be named an All-Star.” Wade strongly believes that Paul deserves a shot to be an All-Star this season. His efforts along with Monty Williams’ coaching, and the dominance of Devin Booker has brought the team up from the ashes.
