“What a steal” New York Knicks outrace Lakers, Bucks and Blazers to sign Hawks’ Cam Reddish
Cam Reddish
The Atlanta Hawks exchanged 22-year-old wing Cam Reddish, Solomon Hill and a 2025 second-round draft pick with the New York Knicks for Kevin Knox and an ensured 2022 first-round pick on Thursday. Tom Thibodeau’s Knicks have also waived Ryan Arcidiacono in a corresponding roster move.
The Hawks had been “canvassing the league” for a mid-level first-round pick or a youthful player in potential Reddish exchange, as per the reports. The Los Angeles Lakers, Indiana Pacers, Portland Trail Blazers, Milwaukee Bucks among others were some noticeable teams to take ongoing investigations into a potential action to secure Reddish in their roster. However, the Knicks succeeded in approaching Hawks for the exchange offer and clearly stole the opportunity from the hands of the Lakers, Blazers and Bucks to get their hands on the 22-year-old wing.

Why did Atlanta Hawks trade Cam Reddish?
Reddish has been strong for the Hawks this season, averaging 11.9 points while shooting a professional high of 37.9 per cent from three. In his third season, he’s kept on being a strong depth piece for the team.
Yet, Atlanta doesn’t need profundity on the wing, with Bogdan Bogdanovic, De’Andre Hunter, Kevin Huerter and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot likewise more viable. The trio of Bogdanovic, Hunter and Huerter has arisen as the group’s three most ideal choices, leaving fewer minutes for players like Reddish.
Cam, the tenth pick in the 2019 draft, was the survivor of an overpopulated Hawks list of skilled youthful wing players. That at last passed on him without the job or pathway to an agreement augmentation and the Hawks focused on it to push him forward of the Feb. 10 exchange cutoff time. With the Atlanta Hawks, his role was usually off the bench and as a role player but this would completely change with the Knicks who would expect him to be in action.
Having said that, Cam Reddish will join a promising team in New York that incorporates Julius Randle, previous Duke colleague RJ Barrett and Kemba Walker, among others, giving quality profundity on the wing. Players like Barrett, Reddish, Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin and Mitchell Robinson give the group a youthful gathering to work around, one presently floated by various strong veterans.
Reddish won’t turn the New York Knicks into contenders but he can bring strength to the existing roster leading them to at least push harder to get themselves to playoffs.
