“What about you take away Joel and Giannis’ free throw” James Harden furiously hits back at Tyronn Lue’s comments on him

“What about you take away Joel and Giannis’ free throw” James Harden furiously hits back at Tyronn Lue’s comments on him

Tyronn Lue and James Harden

James Harden has had one of the best runs with the Philadelphia 76er since the time he joined the squad, and similarly, the 76ers have reaped the benefits of making the splendid decision of adding “The Beard” to their team in exchange of Ben Simmons and a few other players. The team has seemed invincible, and the performances have been so flawless that other coaches started pin-pointing players for being good at what they were supposed to be good at.

Such was the case between Harden and Los Angeles Clippers coach Tyronn Lue who had previously made comments which went viral and seemed a bit controversial in context to the leaders of the Philadelphia 7ers team.

James Harden and Joel Embiid have had the kind partnership that no one might have ever seen in the league before, and for them to connect so well as soon as Harden was traded to the team is nothing short of unbelievable. Both the players have led their team to exceptional heights since the past few weeks and have seemed almost invincible. But the problem with their invincibility has been the ability of other coaches to question their talent and match-winning ability.

Coach Tyronn Lue was the leader amongst such people who were questioning the capabilities of Harden and Embiid for being in the position that they are in right now. It seems as if this didn’t really sit very well with Harden who knew he had to clap back.

Harden seemingly clapped back at the comments by Coach Ty where he questioned the former stating that he was only at the position he was because of free-throws and free-throws only. The pressure seemed to be piling over Harden’s head, the result of which came after a few weeks. Let us take a closer look at what Harden said in reaction to Coach Lue’s comments.

Coach Tyronne Lue had previously stated that James Harden and Joel Embiid had been able to take the 76ers that high in the tables only because they could shoot free throws better than anyone else in the league. He had stated that Embiid and Harden were the 1st and the 3rd highest free throw shooting players in the world right now which tells us that they are entirely dependent on free-throws.

In reaction to these comments, Harden said, “I don’t even pay attention to it,” Harden admitted, via Zion Olojede of Compex. “Free throws are a part of the game. You look at who leads the league, Joel and Giannis, what about if you take away their free throws? I don’t understand what that comment meant. Free throws are a part of the game.

Following which he said, “It’s on the defense to have discipline and not foul. That’s what coaches should be teaching their players. For me I don’t pay attention to it, I just try to go out there and make an impact on the game in a positive way every night.” Which was a strong reply to coach Lue and all the other people Harden might consider as his haters.

It will be interesting to see how far the Clippers are able to go into the league and how Harden and Embiid carry their team forward.
