The Brooklyn Nets are without their marquee player Kyrie Irving since the beginning of 2021-22 season yet Kevin Durant has led the team in a commendable way to ensure the team does maintain the top spot in the tightly compacted Eastern Conference. Not only has the former Finals MVP led the team btu has gone onto register himself among the MVP candidates, which made Kendrick Perkins make astonishing claims upon the 33-years-old Nets marquee.
Analyst Kendrick Perkins suggested that Kevin Durant should be among the Defensive Player of the Year candidates in this very season. To those who are not aware about the facts, Durant contributed to the team’s success with an average of 0.8 blocks and 0.7 steals per contest. Other than that, he averaged 28.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game.

KD has the ability to lock up his opponent during crunch situations may explain why Perkins thinks Durant deserves the title of DPOY. Kevin Durant’s contributions to the Nets this season cannot be overlooked, as he has done his best in every area and he used his experience to lead them to the top spot in Eastern Conference.
Especially with Durant securing Nets win against the Atlanta Hawks, fans seemed to have enough of Kendrick Perkins jumping from one bandwagon to another. Moreover, they went onto criticize the former NBA player for his takes being unrealistic.
Durant has been exceptional for the Brooklyn nets and if injuries do not hamper his 2021-22 season, there seems to be little argument about any other player being able to steal his MVP award. But with majority of the season yet to unravel, let us see how KD focuses upon answering all such claims.
