“I am on this list only because I’ve been around greatness” When Dwyane Wade humbly gave credit where it was due upon making the 75th Anniversary team

One of the most exciting athletes to ever play on a basketball court was Dwyane Wade. The 6’4″ shooting guard resembled Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson in certain ways. Nobody had any doubts that the player who was selected in the third round in 2003 and three years later guided his team to the NBA title would go down in history when he hangs up his shoes.

However, he wasn’t able to be that clear leader since he either spent the majority of his career playing alongside other famous superstars or was seriously wounded when he should have been the only one.

Therefore, even for him, it was humbling to have his name listed alongside the greatest players in the history of the sport. In fact, the ever-so-grounded Wade gave full credit to his coaches before mentioning Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James on the TNT broadcast when he learned that he will be among the 75 greatest players of all time in 2021.

“I needed a Shaq, I needed LeBron. You don’t do this alone, it’s a team game. So, I am on this list, but I am on this list only because I’ve been around greatness, and greatness has lifted me up,” Wade said after thanking all his coaches from high school to University and all the coaches he played under in his 16-years in the league.
