Mac McClung is a rising basketball star in the United States. He began his playing career at Georgetown University before moving on to Texas Tech. He has since then switched several teams and currently plies his trade for the Delaware Blue Coats and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Mac McClung after a decent career with Texas Tech, went undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft. He then joined the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA Summer League, before being waived and signing with the South Bay Lakers eventually. In December, McClung joined the Chicago Bulls on a 10-day contract before returning to the South Bay Lakers.
In July 2022, McClung signed with the Golden State Warriors only to be released by them in early October, of that year. And then, McClung landed in the Philadelphia 76ers, signing an Exhibit 10 contract, only to be waived a day later. He currently plays for NBA G League’s Delaware Blue Coats and also for the 76ers (after he signed a two-way contract recently).
McClung is well-known for his imaginative style of play on the basketball court and for his ability to perform impressive, high-flying dunks His prospective participation in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest is keenly anticipated by many followers.
Mac McClung’s College Career
McClung made a basketball scholarship commitment to Georgetown University in 2018. He established himself in his rookie campaign with a series of standout games, including a 38-point outing against Little Rock. Georgetown struggled as a team, finishing with a 19-14 record despite his individual accomplishments.
McClung transferred to Texas Tech after his first year. He averaged 15.5 points per game in his first season with the Red Raiders, ranking him among the team’s leading scorers. The NCAA Tournament of 2021 saw Texas Tech get to the Final Eight thanks to him as well.
Mac McClung’s Dunking Prowess
McClung’s ability to dunk is one of his most outstanding abilities. He won several dunk competitions in high school, demonstrating his athleticism and ingenuity. He has continued to dazzle in college, dropping some spectacular dunks throughout games.
McClung was expected to perform well in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and as expected the 76ers star lived up to the expectations, impressing and winning over hordes of fans.
Mac McClung wins the Slam Dunk competition
McClung, who recently inked a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, won the Slam Dunk contest thanks to three 50-point dunks. Ten of the twelve dunks this season were successful on the first attempt, making up for their poor performance in the game last season.
McClung made three of his four attempts with perfect scores. Shaquille O’Neal praised McClung highly for his incredible performance, while Warriors star Stephen Curry complimented him on Twitter following it.
