NBA great Michael Jordan is known worldwide as the greatest player to have ever stepped on the basketball court, as people recall his slam dunks and the fiery game plays. He created history by winning six NBA championship titles and six Finals MVP awards in those. Jordan played for around 15 years in the league and earned the title ‘His Airness.’

Michael Jordan was the fourth born among five children. He had two brothers, James Jordan Jr., the eldest in the family, and Larry Jordan, another athlete like Michael. Deloris Jordan was MJ’s elder sister, and Roslyn Jordan was his only younger sibling. As reported by Interbasket, Michael’s eldest sister, Deloris, is a motivational and inspirational speaker.

She is also an author after self-publishing her book, “In My Family’s Shadow: Sister of Sports Phenomenon Michael Jordan.” The book was published in 2001, and it talked about how she lost her virginity after she suffered sexual abuse at the hands of their father. Deloris has had at least two life-threatening suicide attempts and has been divorced twice. Furthermore, Deloris currently lives in Pennsylvania and has three kids.

The Chicago Bulls selected Michael Jordan as the third overall pick in the 1984 NBA draft. He made his NBA debut at Chicago Stadium in October 1984 and scored 16 points. A ticket stub from the game sold for $264,000 at auction, setting a world record for a collectible ticket stub in 2021. Jordan slowly worked his magic, not only on his team’s fans but the opponent’s team as well. He even made it to the All-star team in his rookie year. He won six NBA championship titles and six Finals MVP awards every season the Chicago Bulls won.

Jordan announced his first retirement in 1993 when he claimed he had lost the desire to play basketball. During that period, Michael’s father, James Jordan, was murdered by two teenagers. However, his love for the game couldn’t keep him out for a long time, and he returned to the NBA in 1995. During this period, the Bulls won their three championship titles back-to-back. His second retirement followed in 1999, and Michael was sure he would never return to the NBA.

But soon, he signed up with the Washington Wizards and returned in 2001. He continued playing till the 2003 season and then came his final retirement.

The appreciations poured in from all over the world, as curtains were drawn on an illustrious balling career. The Miami Heat retired the No. 23 jersey in April 2003, even though Jordan never played for their team.
