Kemba Walker
Kemba Walker has been on a roller-coaster since the Boston Celtics traded him to Oklahoma City Thunder where he got waived by the team. Which led him to sign with New York Knicks and had fans go crazy as everyone around the Knicks thought he’ll bring the team back in conversation with his offensive and scoring heroics. But unfortunately, the reality was very different than what the fans expected as Kemba didn’t live up to the expectations and was out of the rotation after many chances by head coach Tom Thibodeau.
But the story didn’t end there for Kemba Walker as many players being side-lined due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols gave his journey a rebirth. As he was back in the rotation due to the team being shorthanded. Further giving out some great performances on the scoring side he booked himself a spot in the rotation and even started many games for the New York Knicks. Kemba Walker also ran the court as the primary guard for the Knicks since Derrick Rose was out of rotation due to an ankle injury.

But again after a while, Kemba Walker fell short and was seen not delivering enough. Which made the head coach Tom Thibodeau get him in rotation but not as a starter as he would come off the bench. Recently, the New York Knicks revealed that the team and Guard Kemba Walker have agreed on shutting down the rest of the season for him as they sideline him which makes him out of the rotation for the remaining games. The return of Derrick Rose and the team being back and healthy can be an important reason for this decision by Knicks.

Kemba Walker has officially agreed on being sidelined for the rest of the season. As a tweet from the side of Knicks quoted: “We fully support Kemba’s decision to shut it down for the remainder of the season and to use this time to prepare for next season. His long-term success on the court remains our priority.” The Tweet also mentioned that it was a statement from Knicks president Leon Rose.
Walker is currently on a two-year contract with the franchise for $17.9 million and more. But his future with the franchise is very uncertain as there are major chances of them parting ways this offseason while finding a new home for Kemba Walker. Since he is no more in the rotation and with the team being back and healthy the guard position already has multiple options to rotate and revolve the game around.
The New York Knicks are currently ranked as the twelfth seed in the eastern conference with the record of 25 wins and 34 losses at .424 while maintaining a losing streak of three games. Kemba on the other hand, this season for the Knicks has averaged 11.6 points, 3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.2 blocks per game. The chances for the team making it to the playoffs are still alive as some more wins can land them a spot in the play-in tournament.
