Why is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s latest IG post a PHOTOSHOPPED image of Snoop Dogg?

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander paid tribute to rap legend Snoop Dogg on his Instagram after the rapper claimed SGA plays like him. Snoop Dogg was watching the play-in games with Stephen A. Smith and Jalen Rose on air when he said – “I like that kid from OKC, he’s a sleeper, he ain’t no big name,” said Snoop when asked about his thoughts on the MVP of the league this season.

SGA has had a breakthrough year with the Oklahoma City Thunder and has become the youngest player since Michael Jordan (1987-88) to average 30+ points per game while shooting over 50% from the field. “The way he play, he play like Snoop Dogg, he kind of remind me of me,” said the West Coast rapper. Soop Dogg has shown his basketball skills as he won the MVP of an unofficial hip-hop all-star game in 2018.

SGA honored the comments from Snoop by posting an image of the rapper with an OKC jersey on with hip-hop lyrics in his caption. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is known for his inventive and lyrical Instagram captions and to honor Snoop Dogg he pulled out yet another one. SGA will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in the last set of play-in games tonight in hopes to secure a playoff spot for OKC.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is on the verge of making his third-ever playoff appearance

SGA made his first appearance in the playoffs with the Los Angeles Clippers back in his rookie year. Shai had two 20-point games that series and impressed fans all around in an eventual 6-game loss to the Golden State Warriors. SGA reached the post-season in the 2020 bubble as well and fell to the Houston Rockets in the first round yet again.

This year Shai is amongst the top-five scorers in the league while being the leader of the OKC unit. The OKC Thunder will end up facing the Denver Nuggets in the first round if they beat the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight. The 2023 all-star debutant has scored 30+ points in 3 of his 4 meetings against the Nuggets this season despite the Thunder being 1-3 against the #1 seed.

SGA will first have to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves to qualify and he has been firing on all cylinders against them too averaging 31 points in three games against them. After his 32 points outing against the New Orleans Pelicans, SGA became the outright leader of the most 30+ point games this season with 45. The youngster will take part in a career and franchise-defining game tonight with hopes to take OKC all the way.
