“You cannot bite the hands that have been feeding you”: Skip Bayless attacks Joel Embiid for his media rant regarding not winning the MVP award

Skip Bayless and Joel Embiid
Skip Bayless the biggest LeBron James hater is back in the headlines. But unexpectedly the other person isn’t LeBron James. As this time Joel Embiid falls in the shade for his media rant about the things he’ll do if he doesn’t win the MVP award this season. After the Philadelphia 76ers registered a win against the Cleveland Cavaliers after a closely contested match-up. In the post-game, Joel Embiid who dropped 44 points, 3 assists, and 17 rebounds quoted: “If [winning MVP] happens, great. If it doesn’t, I don’t know what I have to do. I’ll feel like they hate me. I feel like the standard for guys in Philly or for me is different than everyone else.”
Joel Embiid has been godlike since his return after being affected by COVID-19. He is so far one of the best big men in the league and has no comparison on the offensive end. He has also made it to the MVP conversation with a solid case to bag that award home. As destruction from his side continues since the last season where he was the runner-up behind Nikola Jokic. He now has a deep and improved bag where he is good at shooting and swishing buckets thanks to his new teammate James Harden, who ended the Ben Simmons saga made his big guy happy, and now aims at winning a championship with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Currently, under the leadership of Joel Embiid, the Philadelphia 76ers are ranked as the fourth seed in the eastern conference with the record of 48 wins and 30 losses at .615. Skip Bayless sitting alongside Shannon Sharpe at Undisputed discussed the media rant of the big man to get his hands on the award and gave away a mouth-shuttering reply to it as he had a totally different take on it.

Skip Bayless on Joel Embiid’s ‘media hates him’ rant

Skip Bayless was riding Joel Embiid’s bus all the time during the MVP conversation but responding to his rant he made it very clear that there are still things remaining to be done to get the award. Responding to the take Skip Bayless quoted: “I am a big fan of Joel Embiid and want to share my two cents of advice. This was wrong, wronger, and wrongest. You cannot bite the hand that has been feeding you, you cannot shame them into voting for you. ‘What do I have to do?’ Did the season end yesterday? You have four games left and by the way, you, Philadelphia have the second-easiest schedule. You are at the Pacers, and then you’re at Toronto, which is a tough one. But then you’re facing the Pacers at home again. They aren’t very good. And you get to end with the Pistons… Bring it on home, big man…You are right now on the fourth spot.”
Further Skip Bayless adding some more facts to it mentioned what changed the narrative around him as he quoted: “The big problem that he has faced, is that he isn’t acknowledging this elephant in the room that is James Harden. James Harden came, you didn’t have Ben Simmons, remember Joel was the betting favorite, he was the runaway media speculation favorite because he kept Philly at or near the top of the East with no Ben Simmons. The whole year was Joel or bust. He was just saying watch this, stayed healthy, stayed happy. He was a seven-foot monster on both ends of the floor. I thought he was a towering rim protector. But all of a sudden when James Harden comes to your team and the media says ‘that is the greatest perimeter scorer we have ever seen in the history of the league’, you would argue Kyrie, but I am talking about at 6’5 when he is right, he is just impossible. He has the game on a string. If he becomes your teammate, what is going to happen to your MVP chances? Did they take off and win 20 games in a row? No, they went 13-7 since James joined.”

Skip then talked about the time remaining, players stepping up, and MVP chances for Joel Embiid and quoted: “It’s okay but it’s not great. It’s the eighth-best record in basketball since James joined, and can you sell that to voters? You can’t and meanwhile, we all tried to end it a month or two before the season. You are right Jokic is coming on and listen Luka is coming on and he is coming on hard. You have to sit back and start saying look what they are doing.” Skip is very right with his take as it completely makes sense and even Shannon Sharpe agreed to it all the time. So if the Philadelphia 76ers’ marquee needs the award he really has to step up and go all-in for the remainder of the regular season.
