Although Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons were ruled out of the game, Kevin Durant was still there at home and was enough to bring down the Utah Jazz single-handedly. KD was all over the game scoring three-pointers, clutch shots, and giving alley-oops passes. With Durant’s incredible performance the Brooklyn Nets were able to outscore the Jazz by 14 points in the third quarter, despite having a bad start.

On the other side, Donovan Mitchell tried to bring the Jazz on the track with his 30 points performance but that didn’t help them much as he was also struggling to get the points from inside the arc and made only 9 out of 23 attempts. A similar scenario was seen from his teammate Jordan Clarkson’s side as he was also unable to score from the field and made only 7 out of his 19 attempts.

Kevin Durant embarrasses Utah’s decision to let Hassan Whiteside guard him

Even though the Nets were shorthanded, they didn’t let the game go. Durant took the responsibility to manage the offensive front of the team and went berserk with 37 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists and as result, the Nets won the game by 114-106. Moreover, the Jazz defense was unable to stop the KD explosion on the court despite having a player like Rudy Gobert who is 3x DPOY.

The Jazz defense seems scattered as they come up with a new strategy to let Hassan Whiteside guard the two-time NBA finals MVP instead of Rudy Gobert. Things didn’t go according to Utah’s plan as their new strategy didn’t make any impact on KD’s game and they were still seen struggling to stop him.

When Kevin Durant realized the new strategy of his opponents, he started to mock their decision to let Hassan guard him and embarrassed the Jazz big man all night and asked “You got him? To guard me?” In the postgame interview, Bruce Brown described how the Nets planned their next move when they saw about Utah was starting to switch.

“We heard they were starting to switch, so really it was just get him the ball and get out of the way,” Brown said. “We know Gobert and Hassan can’t stay with him at all.”

Even Jazz forward Rudy Gay accepted that Kevin Durant punished them for their strategic mistake. With this win, the Nets are now in the 8th seed of the east and if they want to avoid the play-in tournament they have to bring winning consistency in their remaining ten games.
