Ever since James Harden got his desired wish ‘yet again’ to move from the Brooklyn Nets away to the Philadelphia 76ers, there have been many who have questioned his sustainability to support marquee Joel Embiid. Stephen A. Smith being one of them. On the same note, the Beard was questioned if he feels any sort of pressure before entering the playoffs with the Sixers. 

To which he responded by stating that he wants to enjoy his game and has no sense of pressure entering the business end. Little did many expect, Stephen A. Smith lashed onto the Beard by calling him a liar and clearly emphasized how Harden is bound to be scrutinized for having such feelings.

On ESPN’s morning show “First Take,” NBA and other sport analyst, Stephen A. Smith reacted to James Harden’s comments about not feeling any pressure going into the postseason this year, with ESPN’s premier personality calling him a liar.

Smith stated, “He just lied. That’s a damn lie he said. What do you mean you don’t feel pressure? You must be out of your damn mind. You better feel that pressure because you in Philly, bro. It’s going to change. Life is different now.”

Harden’s presence in Philadelphia can be felt, loud and hard. Ever since he made his debut, the Beard has jelled beautifully with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. However, as the season progressed towards the end of the regular season, James Harden’s form kept on diminishing. As a result of which, his numbers kept on taking a toll. Talking statically, in his last 15 games of the regular season, he averaged less than 21 PPG and shot less than 29% from the perimeter and 38% from the field. 

Is James Harden hiding the pressure he is feeling underneath his shoes? For Stephen A. Smith, he surely will not let go off the Beard as he even named among the Top 5 players under the most pressure entering the playoffs. Will his opinion hold water? Remains to be seen.
