“You’ve got to check him out every time” Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Criticism of LeBron James Leaves NBA Twitter Fuming

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James have always had a bittersweet relationship with the latter constantly breaking records created by the former, and the former embracing them with an open heart, but all of this remains on court, off of the court, the charitable efforts and other statements not regarding the sport have created problems more than one could imagine. Jabbar has always been vocal of his disagreements with the decisions LeBron makes, and the scenario seems to be getting out of hand with the former taking direct shots at LeBron for a multitude of issues.

In a series of statements made, Kareen Abdul-Jabbar took a dig at LeBron James for being out of order creating problems outside of the court of basketball, due to which people need to “keep a check” on him. The statement hasn’t really been welcomed very well by LeBron’s fans on social media, eventually leading to a multitude of people left fuming, keeping in mind such “distasteful” comments coming from a legend like Jabbar himself.

Let us now take a closer look at what Kareem Abdul-Jabbar specifically said about LeBron James, that amassed various reactions from many people and also managed to gather a lot of hate from LeBron fans, who feel that he hasn’t done anything wrong, and such comments from Jabbar were wrong and uncalled for.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar takes massive dig at LeBron James for his off-court activities

LeBron James is as active off-court as he is on court, supporting various issues, speaking up for various causes and always using his platform in order to do and promote what his right, but often it has happened that his comments haven’t been welcomed or supported by people all around the world, and this doesn’t limit to one political identity, but in fact, people from various backgrounds. LeBron’s comments on the BLM movement, some of his tweets on the killing of police officers and other matters sparked controversy all around the world, and therefore, he doesn’t seem like the most reliable sports personality to Jabbar.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar handed over the Inaugural Social Justice Award named after himself to Lakers’ Carmelo Anthony, and in that event, he didn’t miss his chance to point out the mistakes made by LeBron, and call him various terms in order to tell him that he messes up at various points.

He said, “Some of the things he’s done and said are really beneath him, as far as I can see. Some of the great things that he’s done, he’s standing on both sides of the fence almost, you know? It makes it hard for me to accept that when he’s committed himself to a different take on everything. It’s hard to figure out where he’s standing. You’ve got to check him out every time.” Also stating that James should be “embarrassed of himself”.

This isn’t specifically the first time that Jabbar is expressing his disapproval towards James’ actions and statements and therefore this isn’t something that should be expected to end some. While these comments have been welcomed by a huge amount of people, these have also sparked debates all over the internet, some of which we will look at.
