NBA 2K25 ratings spark controversy as Jayson Tatum is rated above Kevin Durant, causing a frenzy among fans.
Kevin Durant, Nikola Jokic and Jayson Tatum
The wait is finally over as fans of the popular video game were treated to the reveal of the top 10 players on the NBA 2K25 which immaculately features a mix of legends, champions, and MVPs. However, Jayson Tatum’s 95 overall rating, placing him above Kevin Durant’s 94, has sparked controversy among fans on social media.
However, the ratings have reigning MVP Nikola Jokic, Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic, and Milwaukee Bucks Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo tied for the highest rating (97 overall). Followed closely by OKC Thunder Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Philadelphia 76ers former MVP Joel Embiid both on 96.
Furthermore, the list also includes legends, LA Lakers LeBron James and Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Stephen Curry, both on scores of 95, who have dominated the game for years. Also present is defensive stalwart Anthony Davis who locks the tenth and final spot on the illustrious list.
As announced, fans have to eagerly await the release of NBA 2K25, which has Tatum on its cover, on September 6 or September 4 for pre-orders. And with Jayson Tatum and Kevin Durant set to face off in the upcoming season, fans will be watching closely to see if Tatum can prove he deserves to be rated higher than the legendary Durant.
Fans react to NBA 2K25 top ten ratings list
Social media erupted into a frenzy as NBA 2K25 believed that Tatum should be rated above Durant. Although JT led the Boston Celtics to an NBA championship, Durant suffered a crushing defeat as his Suns were swept in the second round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Some social media reactions:
Jayson Tatum’s stats last season were impressive. He averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game during the regular season as the C’s topped the Eastern Conference. Similarly, The Slim Reaper averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game for the Phoenix Suns who claimed the sixth spot in the hotly contested Western Conference. Perhaps, Tatum’s maiden championship win earned him the edge over Durant as reflected in NBA 2K25’s ratings.
For the fans and lovers of the game, the upcoming season promises to be an exciting one, as the players will have to prove they deserve their ratings. JT and KD’s potential face-off comes up next year, March 26 in what would be a tough contest.
