Neil Magny blasts Khamzat Chimaev saying, Leon Edwards is a very easy opponent
“The Borz” Khamzat Chimaev has seen a meteoric rise ever since he stepped into the UFC. The Swede has literally toyed with all the three opponents he faced so far, the most recent being the 17 second annihilation of Gerald Meerschaert. Since, beating Gerald, Khamzat was very active on twitter literally calling out every fighter in the roster, but the UFC was not able to land an opponent for him, until they matched him up with Leon Edwards. They are expected to face in the main event of UFC Fight Night 186 on December 19, 2020.
This matchup didn’t sit well with fellow UFC Welterweight Neil Magny who was earlier tipped to face Khamzat. Speaking in an interview, Neil Magny said that he was frustrated with Khamzat Chimaev for choosing to fight Leon Edwards.

Speaking to ESPN MMA in Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Neil Magny spoke of Khamzat saying, “The only thing I can possibly think of that caused this fight to not go through is his team thought it was a better match-up for him. I am not gonna sit here and blow my horn. Fighting a #8 ranked guy is better than a #3 guy, no. His team might have thought that Leon Edwards is an easier fight for him. He matches-up better against Leon Edwards than he would against me.”
Magny also felt that Khamzat agreed to fight Leon Edwards because he knew he was easy. Speaking of which Magny said, “I think it’s pretty obvious at this point that his team and himself believe the easier matchup for him was Leon Edwards.”
