Neil Magny, Shavkat Rakhmonov, welterweight battle finalised for UFC Fight Night on June 25
Neil Magny- Shavkat Rakhmonov
UFC Welterweights, veteran Neil Magny and undefeted prospect Shavkat Rakhmonov are finalised to battle each other inside the UFC octagon. Magny is 5-1 in his last 6 fights whereas Rakhmonov is 15-0 with a 100% finish rate. While Rakhmonov is yet to be battle tested to the distance, Magny seems to be the one that might bring out that aspect of Rakhmonov as well. Magny is known for fighting the likes of Lorenz Larkin, Michael Chiesa, Rafael Dos Anjos, Santiago Ponizinibbio, Demian Maia, and many more.
Magny has secured wins over the likes of Max Griffin, Geoff Neal, Robbie Lawler, Carlos Condit, Anthony Rocco Martin, Li Jingliang, Johnny Hendricks, Hector Lombard, Kelvin Gastelum, Eric Silva, Tim Means and many more. Rakhmonov on the other hand last fought in February 2022, when he secured a spinning hook kick knockout followed by punches over another promising prospect in Carlston Harris.
More on 170-lbs contest between Neil Magny and Shavkat Rakhmonov
The fight is taking place on June 25, 2022 at UFC Fight Night in UFC Apex, Las Vegas, Nevada, the United States. Other interesting fights include a middleweight clash between Xtreme Couture’s Chris Curtis and Rodolfo Vieira, lightweight Thiago Moises is looking forward to get back on winning column as he faces Christos Giagos, and former flyweight title challenger Tim Elliott will face Amir Albazi. The booking of the Magny-Rakhmonov bout was first reported by Mike Bohn from MMA Junkie.
What do you think of this matchup between Magny and Rakhmonov? Rakhmonov was desperately looking for a fight and even called out Li Jingliang from backing out of the opportunity to fight him. However, that’s when Magny came to play and decided to prove his worth as a fighter who’s not scared to fight anybody, as he called out Rakhmonov for an offer to stay hungry for competition against him.
While Rakhmonov so far has proved to be a finisher at all realms of MMA, whether in striking or grappling, Magny is more of an economically smart fighter that likes to keep the fight going at a certain pace that he likes to dictate, even if it means going to distance. Who do you think wins this one, will Rakhmonov will remain undefeated or will Magny will be the first bitter learning experience for Rakhmonov in MMA?
