Emma Raducanu is again at the receiving end of criticism as she withdrew from the China Open, which is scheduled to start on September 26. Raducanu took to X to announce the same, revealing that the sprained ligaments in her left foot were the reason behind her withdrawal.
Raducanu recently featured in the Korea Open and reached the quarterfinals where she played against Daria Kasatkina. After the first set, which Raducanu lost 1-6, she could play no further and retired midway.
Hello, last week in Seoul i sprained some ligaments in my foot which unfortunately need some more time to heal. It means i can’t play in Beijing but I hope to be back competing as soon as i can.Emma Raducanu wrote on X

Had she played in the tournament, she would have met Olympic gold medalist Qinwen Zheng in the second round. Raducanu, after the heartbreaking exit from the US Open, wanted to play as much as possible before the end of this season as she admitted that less practice might have been the reason behind her first-round elimination at Flushing Meadows.
The Brit lost to America’s Sofia Kenin in three sets. Before arriving in New York where she won the title back in 2021, Raducanu played just the Citi Open, skipping the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Masters after she was denied the wild cards.
Fans slam Emma Raducanu after withdrawing from another tournament due to injury
Fans on social media are criticizing her for withdrawing from another tournament due to injury, as many of them think that she is not living up to the hype as she either fails to grab another trophy since the 2021 US Open win or succumbs to injuries.

Raducanu remained on the sidelines for almost the entire 2023 after multiple surgeries. This season, she played decently on the grass court swing and made it to the Wimbledon fourth round, which she lost to New Zealand’s Lulu Sun.
The 21-year-old is scheduled to play the Wuhan Open which starts on October 7, and may also participate in the Ningbo Open from October 14. Earlier this summer, Raducanu had talked about prioritizing the Asian swing because of which, she didn’t want to “overdo” herself in the first half of the year. The World No. 54 is 20/ 13 for the season.
