Novak Djokovic reached the semifinals at the Paris Olympics with a win over Stefanos Tsitsipas on Thursday, August 1. As the draws narrow, players are forced to give their best to survive and vie for a medal for their country.
After three impressive rounds at the Games, Djokovic faced Stefanos Tsitsipas for a spot in the medal rounds. It was a tough match for the Serbian, who had to fight back from three set points down. He won the first set comfortably but encountered difficulties in the second.
Tsitsipas fought hard in the second set and Djokovic’s knee also aided the Greek. The Serbian trailed 2-5 in the set due to his knee but fought back to win the set in the tie-break and sealed his spot in the semi-final of the Games.
After the match, Djokovic proudly displayed his cross, kissing it during an interview. When asked about his knee, the Serbian didn’t have a confident answer and only hoped to be ready for the next match, kissing his cross again in front of the camera.

Djokovic, who now leads Tsitsipas 12-2 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series, will be evaluated before his semifinal match against 11th seed Lorenzo Musetti. Musetti upset defending Olympic gold medalist Alexander Zverev 7-5, 7-5 in the quarterfinals. Djokovic has won six of his seven meetings with Musetti, including three matches this season, and recently defeated him in the Wimbledon semifinals.
