Venus Williams wore a broken dress to 2024 Met Gala
While Venus Williams received loads of praise for her looks at the 2024 Met Gala, the 43-year-old revealed that she wore a broken dress to the event. The tennis champion’s Marc Jacobs gown looked pretty grand, covered in tiny mirrors, but it was also purposely not the easiest couture to wear.

Williams revealed that she broke one of the mirrors on her dress while zipping up. She also said that while anyone else would have panicked, she went ahead and paired her dress with seven-inch heels.
It's based off the theme of today, we're showing all these dresses that are too fragile to wear. So he wanted to bring in the fragility of mirrors—I only broke one. But it was too late 'cause I was already running behind! Each one I break, it's seven years' bad luck.Venus Williams said to Live From E!’s Ross Mathews.
Nevertheless, it was not a bit of bad luck for the former tennis ace. She eventually dominated other tennis players at the event and as it turned out, she even left behind her younger sister. Notably, Venus Williams was the first athlete to make a debut at the Met Gala in 2004. She then took a break before coming back five years ago.
