Ben Shelton is at the receiving end of criticism due to his Instagram story. On the eve of the US presidential elections, Shelton shared a religious message. He did not reveal for whom he voted but netizens are assuming that he voted for Donald Trump of the Republican Party.

The 78-year-old was declared as winner on November 5 as he secured over 270 electoral votes, while the Democratic Party’s Kamala Harris failed to reach the mark. Shelton however, did not endorse either Trump or Harris.

Shelton in the meanwhile, was last seen in action at the Paris Masters where he reached the third round and lost to Arthur Cazaux in straight sets. Before the tournament in Bercy, Shelton made it to the final of the Swiss Indoors but suffered a straight-set defeat to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

The American tennis ace is 42-25 on the season and has lifted just one title. He won the ATP Houston back in April with a three-set victory over compatriot Frances Tiafoe. In Grand Slam tournaments this season, he failed to progress to the quarterfinals.
