Emma Raducanu has suffered a fresh injury scare as she retired in her quarterfinal match against No. 1 seed Daria Kasatkina. The 21-year-old began struggling with a foot issue in the first set, while down 1-4 against the Russian.
Raducanu was looking to make her second WTA Tour semifinals of the year, having reached the last four at the Nottingham Open in June. She had beaten American Peyton Stearns and Yue Yuan in straight sets in the opening rounds. Coming into the match against Kasatkina, she was the favorite to win.
Raducanu initially called the trainer while down 1-4 and received some treatment, which led to her ultimately retiring after losing 1-6 in the first set.
This is the third time Raducanu has been injured this year. The former US Open champion suffered a back injury at the Miami Open in March. After recovering, she sustained the same injury at the Madrid Open. She was hoping to play more tournaments in the Asian swing after her US Open disappointment.

Raducanu suffered a first-round defeat against American Sofia Kenin after skipping the Canadian and Cincinnati Open due to not getting a wildcard for the events. She was heavily criticized for her decision after her loss at the US Open. Hoping to remedy the situation, the Briton has planned to play in more tournaments in Asia.
She is expected to play at the China Open in Beijing after the Korea Open. She is also on the entry list for the Wuhan Open, which gets underway by the end of October. However, with this injury, Emma Raducanu’s participation in the events certainly hangs on a thread.

Retires.
Just leave tennis. So weak
Raducanu needs to toughen up. Only ever has these issues when behind in an event/on the scoresheet. It's more than an injury for her at this point.

Daria Kasatkina wished Emma Raducanu a quick recovery after the Briton retired during their quarterfinal match. Kasatkina easily got the win after winning the first set 1-6. The Russian will play Beatriz Haddad Maia in the final on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Kasatkina is seeking for her second title of the season. The World No.13 reached her first final in Abu Dhabi but lost in a straight set to Elena Rybakina.
She got to her second final at the Charleston Open but lost to the in-form Danielle Collins. She finally got her hands on a title after beating Leylah Fernandez to win the Eastbourne International.
