British WTA star Emma Raducanu became the center of criticism as the 21-year-old expressed her feelings about Andy Murray retiring from the tour. As the 2021 US Open champion claimed that she would “dearly miss” Murray and she enjoyed watching him play, fans hit back at Raducanu for ghosting the 37-year-old at 2024 Wimbledon.

As Raducanu pulled out of the mixed doubles event at the last moment, leaving no option for Murray but to miss the event, netizens targeted her for not matching her actions with words.

Notably, Raducanu, in a video shared by the Tennis Channel, talked about the mood on the tour following Murray’s retirement from tennis. The Briton said that everyone, especially her, would miss Murray. She said as she grew up watching the three-time Grand Slam champion, she would miss seeing him play.

Emma Raducanu was targeted by tennis fans after the video showing her talk about Andy Murray‘s greatness went viral. Most of the comments were about Raducanu opting to not play in the mixed doubles event at the 2024 Wimbledon.

Raducanu had attracted criticism as she pulled out of the mixed doubles event at the Championships citing her preference to play in the singles competition. While it would not have been an issue had it been another tournament, Andy Murray getting ghosted while playing his last Wimbledon infuriated fans.

Murray’s mother, Judy Murray, had also taken potshots and Raducanu for pulling out at the last moment. However, she later clarified her stance and instead blamed the tournament for her son not being able to play one more match in his last tournament. Raducanu also cheekily replied to Judy and now the Briton has reiterated her love for Andy.
