Rennae Stubbs, former coach of Serena Williams, became a joke online after fans heard her commentary. The Australian coach compared Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, confidently claiming that the Serbian had the Spaniard to thank for his drop shots.

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have become new rivals, with Alcaraz being one of the few players to beat Djokovic at his best. They differ greatly in their tennis styles: Alcaraz is an attacking player capable of hitting perfect shots from anywhere on the court, while Djokovic is known for his defensive play.

The Serbian prefers to extend rallies, while Alcaraz aims to finish points quickly. Recently, Stubbs suggested that Djokovic has Alcaraz to thank for teaching him drop shots, which amused fans. One X user quipped, “Novak and Rafa were trading drop shots while Carlos was still in diapers,” in response to Stubbs’ viral comments.

Although this was not what she meant, Stubbs intended to say that Alcaraz’s frequent use of drop shots has influenced other players to use them more. Her words were misunderstood, leading to laughter from fans, and X soon took the video down.

This was not the first time that the fans had trolled Stubbs for her commentary. The Australian had also commentated for Donna Vekic’s match and fans felt that she was being biased towards the Croatian.

Here are some of those tweets:

The No. 1 and 2 seeds at the Olympics have successfully reached the final, with both playing in their first-ever Olympic final. Djokovic, who previously won a bronze, is now in contention for gold.

On the other hand, this is Alcaraz’s debut in the Games. He played both singles and doubles, forcing his body to play more than one match every day. He experienced a little fatigue in his quarterfinal match against Tommy Paul but other than that has been unstoppable as he plays for gold.
