The Indiana Pacers shook the NBA community when they entered the NBA Finals after beating the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. To add to this, they have now forced a Game 7 against the 68-14 Oklahoma City Thunder.
NBA veteran Draymond Green believes that this year might be their only opportunity to win the title, giving them even more motivation to win.
The pressure is all on them. Indiana is coming out is coming out with a free swing and they are coming out playing loose like ‘we got nothing to lose, we were never supposed to be here in the first place.’ I want to see what OKC is going to do because if they don’t win this championship, they may never win the championship.

Green’s assessment regarding the Thunder never winning a championship, after this, again, does not seem right in actuality. Mostly because Shai-Gilgeous Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren are all 26 years of age or younger, indicating that the Thunder is still a young team. In addition to having a large pool of draft picks to continue expanding their squad, several of the players on their regular rotation are still under rookie contracts.
From a neutral standpoint, the Pacers have nothing to lose. A few months back, they were being trolled by the NBA fans, stating that they would not make it this far, but they did. On the other hand, the OKC Thunder have been phenomenal all season. They finished as the 1st seed in the West and won 68 games this season.
That said, anything short of a title is unacceptable for a team that ended first in the West, had the MVP, and had the best record in the league. Their supporters demand complete success. Only time will tell how the upcoming Game 7 unfolds.
Kendrick Perkins offered words of wisdom for Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
OKC Thunder star man Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a golden opportunity to deliver the 2025 NBA title for his side in Game 6 against the Pacers. However, Pacers’ T.J. McConnell and Tyrese Haliburton had other plans, forcing a Game 7 in this ongoing series. However, for SGA’s advantage, Game 7 will happen in OKC, making them favorites to win the title.
Former NBA player, Kendrick Perkins, recently chimed in on this matter, offering SGA some words of wisdom ahead of one of his career’s most important games.

This is your home court. Paul Pierce used to always say, ‘I’mma protect my house, I’mma protect my crib. I don’t care if it’s Bron, I don’t care if it’s Kobe.‘ Damn it, you got Tyrese Haliburton coming in — he’s injured. You got to go out there and put on the show, especially after the unacceptable performance you put on in Game 6.
Kendrick Perkins said on NBA Today,
Perkins drew parallels between former NBA player Paul Pierce’s comments to help SGA regarding Game 7. In addition, the former NBA champion called upon SGA to spearhead the attack, channeling Pierce’s fearless playoff mentality and aiming it directly towards the Thunder dressing room. The 2025 NBA MVP award winner will have to be at his best to achieve greatness on Sunday.
Brian Windhorst makes a huge claim
Shai-Gilgeous Alexander has had one of the most decorated seasons as an NBA player, winning the WCF Finals MVP along with the 2025 NBA MVP award. The only thing that remains is the 2025 NBA title for him and his side. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the 26-year-old guard might be about to land a CV that will earn him a spot in the Hall of Fame.
If you look at the fact that he’s a 30-point scorer shooting over 50%, they had 68 wins as a team. I know this is a new award but it should be counted on the resume… he did win Western Conference Finals MVP, the Oscar Robertson trophy… if he wins tonight and gets the MVP, he will have a Hall of Fame resume… end of story, at age 26.

Windhorst emphasized Gilgeous-Alexander’s crucial performance during the Thunder’s 2-1 Finals deficit. He tallied 35 points, particularly 15 in the fourth quarter, in Game 4 on the road. He then helped Oklahoma City take a 3–2 series lead in Game 5 with 30 points and 10 assists. It will be interesting to watch how SGA performs in Game 7 on Sunday.
