“Never making 125-lbs”- Henry Cejudo offers fans some insight into meeting with UFC brass for the return fight

Henry Cejudo

Combat sports legend Henry Cejudo is all set to return, but take his word, not at the flyweight at all, except for one condition. Cejudo, who’s been assessing the competition around the bantamweight and the featherweight division lately, not long ago, decided to enter the US-Anti Doping Agency’s drug-testing pool to be able to valid to compete back again. Cejudo’s eyes were earlier set on the featherweight division, that too since last year, when he was lured by the idea of becoming the first-ever fighter in the UFC to have belts across 3 different weight classes.

Cejudo, the former 2-division champion and the Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling, last fought in April 2020 when he handed former WEC-UFC bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz, the first knockout loss of his career. Since then, Cejudo has been doing his life as a successful coach for world champions like Deiveson Figueiredo and former champions Zhang Weili and Jon Jones. Cejudo is also into podcasting as well.

Henry Cejudo cannot think of fighting at 125-lbs unless it’s a Mighty Mouse trilogy

On his podcast co-hosted alongside sports journalist Dave Schmulenson aka The Schmo titled The Triple C & The Schmo Show, Cejudo talked about if fighting in the flyweight is completely out of the picture forever. Seems like Cejudo had a clear answer.

“Oh hell yeah,” responded Cejudo pretty confidently If I was to ever fight 25 it did probably be against Demetrious Johnson, that’s the only guy that would lead me back in because I know I can beat the rest. But just to see my improvements of how far I have got, you know, that’s why I would want to pick Demetrious. But yeah, 135-145, you know…” continued Cejudo with the end indicating where he would compete.

What do you make of Cejudo’s decision to avoid more weight cutting by not returning to flyweight? Do you think his size is sufficient enough to fight bigger guys at featherweight and bantamweight? Cejudo has previously also affirmed that he will be returning to fight for the bantamweight title for the featherweight title aspirations are on hold as of now. The current bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling is all in to welcome Cejudo with open arms.
